Nexium Delayed-Release Capsules 40 mg contains 40 mg of esomeprazole. This capsule can be used with delayed-release capsules, but it is not preferred. You should take this capsule with food to avoid stomach upset. Take your medication at regular intervals. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly, unless your doctor tells you to.

Directions

Description:Nexium Control is licensed to be the brand-name drug esomeprazole, taken orally. The medication works by reducing the amount of acid that is produced in the stomach wall. It is intended for use 2 hours before symptoms begin. Many people have reported significant improvement in their symptoms within just 7 days. However, if you experience symptoms for more than 7 days, Esomeprazole should be taken as directed by a doctor. The dosage may be increased to 2.5 mg once daily. Contraindications:People with a known hypersensitivity to esomeprazole or to any of the excipients. People with a known hypersensitivity to other proton pump inhibitors (PPI).
Special Precautions for Nexium Control:This medication is not approved for use in pediatric patients under 18 years of age. Nexium Control is not recommended for use in patients with a known tendency to osmothetically impinge upon sensitizers. Before using this medication, especially with prolonged use or when changing from a pH-controlled diet, talk to your doctor. This medication may cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure when used with over-the-counter antihistamines or cold and flu medicines. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, or if you experience severe drowsiness.
Drug Interactions:Ciclosporin, interferon-containing medications, warfarin, proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), and antibiotics. Nexium Control may reduce the amount of acid produced by the stomach.
Cautions:This medication should not be used if you are allergic to esomeprazole or to any of the excipients. If you experience symptoms of an allergic reaction, such as chest pain, trouble breathing, or tightness in the throat or dizziness, stop using this drug immediately and seek medical attention immediately. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, and swelling of the throat or tongue.
Ciclosporin may cause diarrhea. If you develop severe diarrhea while using this medication, stop and seek medical attention immediately. Contact your healthcare provider if you experience blurred vision, difficult to read or speak, or if you experience stomach pain.
Ciclosporin may cause decreased intestinal motility ( intestinal blood flow ) which may lead to a condition called toxicity. If you notice any of the above symptoms, stop using this drug and contact your healthcare provider immediately.
Side Effects:Common side effects of Nexium Control: diarrhea, nausea, headache, vomiting, constipation, dizziness, lightheadedness, dry mouth, decreased blood pressure, pruritus, muscle cramps, nausea, rash, and itching.
Rare side effects of Nexium Control: heart problems, sudden numbness or weakness (reduced or increased heart beat), seizures, difficulty speaking, problems swallowing, yellowing of the skin or eyes, constipation, stomach pain, dry mouth, and dry or cracked skin.
